Worcester Bosch proud to support pioneering decarbonisation hub in Penygroes
Published: 22-11-2024
We are delighted to announce we are a part of a ground-breaking decarbonisation hub, titled Tŷ Gwyrddfai, in north west Wales – the first of its kind in the UK – which launched last week. The new innovative, state of the art research and development facility is dedicated to testing and trialing new technology and materials that align with the decarbonisation agenda.
Tŷ Gwyrddfai is a collaborative project between Adra, Grŵp Llandrillo Menai and Bangor University, which has seen the former hygiene products factory transformed over the past two years into a decarbonisation hub. One that will ensure that north west Wales is at the forefront of the decarbonisation agenda, working with communities and businesses to retrofit homes over the coming years.
We were ecstatic when the project asked for our involvement and we've provided equipment, including heat pump and hybrid systems, to the hub. Equipment that will give Adra tenants, apprentices, college students and local installers hands-on experience with the technology.
But our involvement goes further than that – we are fully committed to delivering on Tŷ Gwyrddfai’s promise. Here are just a few ways how:
Commitment to the local area
The hub will not only put north west Wales at the forefront of the green transition, but also provide benefits to local residents in social housing.
The organisations behind the project believe that it will directly reduce the impact of increasing fuel and energy costs, by making their homes more energy efficient and ultimately improve the quality of social housing tenants in the area. We’re proud to be a part of this.
Commitment to local installers
We will be sending our trainers down to the hub regularly, hosting workshops and training programmes for local installers, so they can get a first-hand experience of our products. The doors will be open for any installer interested in understanding alternative heating options such as heat pumps and hybrids.
We hope the new centre will help build on the qualified workforce in the area by introducing new skills and knowledge to drive adoption of low carbon technologies in the local area and beyond.
Commitment to the future
Ultimately, our involvement is another way that we are actively trying to support the UK’s move to net zero. By continuing to educate and upskill installers around new heating technology, we hope to enable the wider adoption and demand among homeowners, landlords and wider housing organisations.
Tŷ Gwyrddfai is the latest of many projects and developments we are supporting to support UK home heating’s transition to net zero. We’ll continue to advocate and educate on viable, low-carbon heating options, and work closely with government, councils and other organisations in order to help the UK continue down its path to net zero.
We’re excited to welcome you!
